Saya adalah....

sangat NAIF. Insident lewat minggu ini cukup meletakkan benda-benda ke dalam perspektif (put things into perspective, yo!) Tapi tak apa, apa orang kata tu ye? Don't get angry, get EVEN. Bring it on, b*tch!!!!

In Mourning

I do not want to seem so shallow but although there are many other saddening news in this world, I weep a little when I heard about this....R.I.P Heath Ledger.

And in other news, I'm gonna need to do some shopping since the government has decided that Thursday is Batik Day

'Tis the second season...

of good food and good company. It was Abami's birthday, Kak Ida's coming to KL and Kak Nona's promotion; and naturally we decided it was high time for a good makan time. At another hotel, of course. This time, it was One World Hotel. Guess who suggested it? Ahem!

The spread was delectable. My pick was the dimsum, sushi and sashimi, smoked salmon (my usual must-have!), pasta, button mushrooms in olive oil (bit too salty), pizza and the usual salads and starters. There was also mamak-style and chinese-style cuisine but I wasn't tempted. The angel-hair pasta was lovely with the cream sauce and I added the smoked salmon and mushrooms to it to make it more irresistable. I wish I had more of those dimsum as well as sashimi. The tuna on the sushi was not as fresh, though. It's color was slightly pale. I liked the choice of salads and vegetables mainly because there was plenty of broccoli and cauliflower to be had with a wide selection of salad dressings. Okay, enough about the food.

We were a bit late getting there because we had to get a gift for abami and I got a couple of cards for Kak Nona and Kak Ida. I'm sure when they opened the cards they were expecting something more than just a card. Ticket to Hawaii? Eheh. Maybe in 10 years' time (crossing my fingers!!!!) To be frank, I didn't know what to get them. For sure it can't be something unoriginal because they give great gifts......(kipas nih!) like what I got just now.......thanks Kak Ida! As soon as I got home I turned on the laptop to try the gadget on. I am ecstatic. It was nice to see the kids again. Ajmal has now got a little chevron on his sleeve; a sign of an upgrade in his life experiences as baby-toddler. Jijin confirmed that she indeed has a lot of friends; too many to recite their names to me, Qin was being her cheeky self but probably forgot who I was because she barely said a sentence to me, Shasha and Aiman are swamped with work to get them ready for their big exams and Along is still in love with Rain. Hohum. Conversation was the usual. There's talk of going for the pilgrimage and the possibility of a couple of us being sponsored for the trip. Yehoo! The stuff-your-face-while-talking-at-the-same-time session took slightly longer than two hours. We convened to the cafe lobby for a photo op and later adjourned to our respective destinations.

And the actual reason I am writing this is because the memory of the food that we had is making me go hungry again. Tonight I'll be going to sleep with a rumbling belly and dreaming of a large salmon lying agains smokey blue-grey walls and a certain antique stained dining table.

The New Proton BLM

Nope, I'm not getting any commission from Proton. Wish I do, though.

In keeping with the theme...

of premature birthday wishes, I hereby announce that I am the first person to wish a certain somebody HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!! I hope the phrase 'Life begins at 40' does not apply to you and wishing you all happiness and longevity as well as a delicious spread of barbecue, ahem!

Just because....

There is no particular reason for this entry. We had an uneventful week and weekend. The holiday was spent lazing around just because I miss lazing around on a holiday with Joe. He's still out there, by the way; doing what he likes best. I have yet to email my non blogging sis his resume just because Joe says he is shy about his credentials. Nothing much to be impressed about, he says. I am livid, of course; at his revelation just because it is particularly a very, very, very stupid excuse indeed. Nantilah ye Kak Nona! He has updated the resume but has yet to give it to me. The bugger is somewhere in the boondocks of Jerantut. Yesterday was at least a little bit productive. The lawn is growing nicely. The flowers are blooming. Only the pseudo Christmas tree is losing its color. Lack of water, probably. I am quite happy of that just because we broke our backs to make it happen. We've looked at a few kitchen cabinet designs. I am at my wits end choosing the right color for the doors just because I want it to match with our kitchen's terracotta orange floor tiles. The walls on the living room have been partially painted with Jotun's Sugar Cane green. It is partially painted just because Joe is trying to veto for the wall to be painted in Jotun's Lime Peel green. The roomie is blabbing about the hubby getting a good offer from a multinational telco company and I am depressed just because I think she is so lucky. And finally, I am not answering the emails with regards to the family get-together in February just because I simply do not know yet what Joe's schedule is like next month.

Stomach Flu Sisters

Qin was hospitalised yesterday for stomach flu. As I heard from my non-blogging kakak, the virus has been around for a few months now. The ulat Qin was later discharged, thank God. True to her ulat self I heard that she didn't have any difficulties even with the flu. This ulat is nowhere near the real ulat that I found lying in my garden last Sunday. Earlier her soul sister, Jijin also got bit by the flu bug. Pity her, it was while we were in PD. But Jijin is also now in her elements. Had a chance to meet her during the weekend and she seemed happy to start her life as a primary schooler. Guess she's met a lot of friends. It was only a year ago that she adamantly refused to go to any school because it had no TV. She must have somehow caught that from her Mushu, heh. And don't even let Mushu say anything about the ulat boy because this is a true ulat prince; always finding an excuse to 'mengodek'. Tapi takper sebab ulat mengodek dengan comelnya!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ABG ZACH!

In keeping with a promise I made, here's wishing you a happy and very together birthday! May Auntida lavish you with love and kisses and everything nice plus a cake or two. May the new year bring new hope and promises and not to mention the great surroundings for a photo op featuring none other than yours truly and joe hihihi....

This is...

what we were up to New Year's eve. Joe wanted to compensate for the time that he left me and so suggested that we decorate our front yard. It was a grave mistake as he soon found out.

On Sunday we trekked to Sg Buloh for the Philippino grass. It cost RM1 per square feet. We also got 3 pots of a plant that we don't know the name of. Today we made the second trip to a nursery nearer to our location in Shah Alam. I can't believe that we have to pay good money just for dirt. A few bags of em. And this time a plant that has little flowers caught Joe's eyes. Don't ask me what its name is. What is it with these Mat Bungas? Or is it possible that Joe caught the Mat Bunga Envy Syndrome from Abg Amir? Hohum....

Now, who knew that it was so hard to plant grass? First, we had to plough the plot to remove the thick patches of Pearl grass that was already there......by hand, no less. Why do they give it such a beautiful name when its looks is nowhere near the real pearl? In fact, I hear this is the grass they feed the cows. Pity we don't have any cows. Next, we had to spread the mixture of black soil and fertiliser all over the yard and finally lay the patches of grass piece by piece to cover the plot. And we did all this under the hot Malaysian sun. By the time we finished this process the sun was already showered and getting into his jammies. Until now I can't forget the occasional look of regret on Joe's face for suggesting this. And I was not shy to rub it in his face. Hihi. When Joe could no longer take the ploughing we switched to planting the individual plants along the edges of the lawn.

Tonight, after watching the fireworks from our balcony, my aching bones screaming and with the TV tuning in to X-Men: The Last Stand, I can't wait to see if it's worth the effort......while Joe is ruining my train of thought with his groans of pain. And we're going back to finish it tomorrow! So yes, that is how we're planning to spend the beginning of the New Year. Happy New Year everyone!
